We Have a View

From our back deck! One that was discovered a little while back during our first peak of sun back in May. We didn't know it was there when we bought the place and I'm kind of shocked it wasn't in the houses write up...but it's there and it's visible when you layout on our double chaise lounge. Anyone want to join me this summer? I'm seriously working on my tan. ;)

Look closely, you can see the Space needle AND Mt. Rainier!

Bugs

I know, kind of disturbing- sorry! I'm not diseased, I think I'm just tasty.

The mosquitoes really had their way with me at the Canal and the sad part is that I barely had any skin exposed...can you imagine the damage they could have done? Melissa kept saying they were biting and I was like, "oh, I don't feel them...maybe they don't like my pregnant blood." Boy, was I wrong. The day after we returned these little bumps showed up on my feet and hands and they haven't stopped itching since. I've even had my first sleep talking experience. The night before last Jeff said he woke up to me sitting straight up in bed and when he asked me what was wrong I sad, "bugs" and then he asked for further clarification ,to which I replied, "nevermind" and went back to sleep. I wish I could have seen that! I'm almost postibive I was itching these stupid bumps!

Anyone have any good home remedies for mosquito bites? I guess I could go to the store...how annoying!

On the bright side- at least I got a pedicure yesterday so I could show this photo with some dignity.

The Hood with The Hinsons

We left for a quick vacation with the Hinson family Friday morning to my family's cabin on Hood Canal. The weather was fair and the kids were full of energy! Eli and I were probably the biggest recluses of the trip- me with my book (kind of a new teenage obsession, and recommended by Joey) and Eli with World of Warcraft. But we did manage to get out of the house on occasion to watch Isaac get his head dunked (actually I just had Jeff take pictures) and eat some yummy smores by the fire. Amelie was also a great help in the kitchen cooking bacon and cutting fruit. It made me realize how much I LOVE planning vacation meals...if anyone would like me to plan a weekend menu for them I'm totally game! I'll even provide the recipes and grocery list, I literally love every part of it.

There is something about vacationing that gets me very tired and so I'm back home now while Jeff plays soccer. I'm anxiously awaiting his return so we can run to Blockbuster and veg out for the rest of the night!

Vamos a la Playa!

Yesterday the clouds parted to reveal a gorgeous day and myself and our visiting guests (Dan & Alisha, of London fame) took full advantage of it by heading to Golden Gardens. It was so nice to soak in the sun for a bit and spend more time with these great friends who are leaving tomorrow.

Dan & Alisha we love you and are anxiously awaiting your permanent arrival to Seattle whenever that might be!

After the beach we had a chance to celebrate the 2nd birthday of my sweet nephew, Simon! And I feel like I should document this....about a week ago when Rebekah, Paula, and I went into Simon's room to wake him up from a nap he opened his eyes and said, "hi Jenny!" But that's not all...he also proceeded to point at me and say, "you look cute!" Don't worry, I got clarification and that's really what he said. He is such a loving little guy and I am so blessed to be his Auntie!

Hope I'm not the only one who was able to enjoy the weather, here's wishing for a nice weekend!

Hair Today...Gone Tomorrow

I got a trim today and decided to do a little something different with my bangs. I'm still getting used to it and I'm not quite sure if it's what I was picturing, but thankfully hair is temporary.

And speaking of hair, I know I promised cyber-space that I would donate my hair to Locks of Love...well, I still intend to but I think I've gotten attached to my longer hair and am thinking of trying it out for a bit more. So, sorry if you were hoping to join me on the hair chopping adventure. I encourage you to go for it on your own...or perhaps you'd like to wait too?

Whew, it feels good to get that of my chest. Now I can go back to eating my mac & cheese with chicken sausage with a clear conscience!

Before & After

Before we left for our trip the yard was dormant....After we returned, Spring had reared it's glorious head...and our grass was knee length!

I was also pleased to find (not that I was too pleased about the grass) the tree in our front yard had sprouted leaves and although they looked deceptively like a Japanese Maple I quickly learned (thanks to the tag that I hadn't noticed before) it is a Worplesdon Sweetgum- it still turns magnificent colors in the Fall so I think we'll keep her!

Did I already mention it's good to be home? We are reminded daily how blessed we are...for family and friends and this sweet little house in Ballard!

I'm looking forward to the sun sticking around awhile- June Gloom and all that- blaah!
