When summer comes along...and hurray it's finally here (though I'm waiting for the clouds to burn off this afternoon)...I can't help but think about my Uncle Leonard's garden- it's like its own Seattle Farmer's Market- I love it!
About a month ago my Mom, Wesley and I went for a little visit. I've been visiting this very home and garden since I was born and I remember visiting my Great Grandma Sophie, who passed away at 96 I believe. She used to call me Helen...actually she called most people Helen (one of her daughters names) and ask me to rub her back. I don't remember much about her but the thought of that makes me chuckle. How grand to live to be such a ripe old age, great-grandchildren at your feet...an amazing garden out your window with plenty of produce to eat and flowers to enjoy!
This would be a dream for me...living in the city AND having a huge garden- maybe someday!
your great uncle leonard seems like such an amazing man! i've always been in awe of the bounty he has been able to share with you year after year! thanks for posting these beautiful photos from your visit. it's so great to see what his garden looks like, and to see him out in it, too! looks like wes had a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to see what the city farm looks like, it is amazing! I love hearing the stories about your uncle leonard and am also always amazed at the crops he manages to grow!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these cute photos, seems like it was a great day!
Thanks for posting these Jenny.
ReplyDeleteI am in awe and have garden envy....it all looks amazing! :)
ReplyDeletelets hope the local crows don't find a blindfold and bat...that scarecrow pinata wouldn't know what hit it! especially if they used the blindfold on it instead of themselves.
ReplyDeleteok ok ok jenny...i'm sold! i'll help you with the garden in august. get those raised-beds plans a brewin'!
ReplyDeletejeff, you are ridiculous :)
wes, nice choice of sweater vest...you look sharp boy!
Is Uncle Leonard the one who walks Greenlake every morning? He looks so familiar...I love the early morning GL crew; I hope I am still circling the lake in another 40 years. :) What a beautiful garden!
ReplyDeleteclaire- he is the one who walks green lake! you should stop him if you see him...he would love it!
ReplyDeletewhat a great resource! also, loving wes's outfit - haven't seen that smart look yet. I'd also love an urban garden and I'm hoping to reap the benefits of someone else's hard work at our next place!
ReplyDeleteHey Jenny!
ReplyDeleteThis comment actually has nothing to do with your post but I just wanted to jot a quick note to say it was nice to see you today at the park. I was glad you were there as I'd never been to any of the playdates in the park before. Sorry we didn't get to chat more...
Have a good rest of the week!
