Who knew it could be this easy? (read below)
That's right, Jeff and I have decided to have a baby avocado tree. With the help from http://www.avocado.org/, the pit from a Haas Avocado (which we will be purchasing tomorrow), and a lot of love we intend to nurse this into a full grown fruit producing tree. Jeff will most likely assume the role of disciplinarian and I'll be the one it comes to when it needs a shoulder to cry on.
In 5-13 years (talk about a long gestation period) we should have plenty of these to share with friends and family.

Jenny! So nice to see you and Jeff the other night ;o) Good luck with your new "baby." I tried that a couple years ago, but I must have been a bad mom cause all of mine rotted. Hope you guys have better luck than me!
jenny, that is not funny

yum! where will you plant it? and what does an avocado tree look like, anyway? have fun!
Ok, so I'm running late...but isn't that true for any new mom? We have yet to purchase the avocado! But to answer your question Kristen...once it becomes a true little tree-ling we will plant it in a pot until it gets sturdy enough for the outdoors. Then we've considered planting it in place of the big tree in Jeff's yard (which will be removed on Saturday). Perhaps Jeff will be kind enough to let me post a before and after?
I mean... talk about misleading headlines....
besides... their called Seedlings... not babies.
