It's a Girl!

And her name is Bernina...

I guess my birthday came a bit early this year. Jeff surprised me with this little kitten last night. She purrs!!! I AM talking about a sewing machine..I just realized the analogy might be going a bit too far. But now that I'm thinking about it..wouldn't it be fun to have cats named; Bernina, Elna, Singer, Fiskar...? You get the idea.

I have never been more thrilled with a material possession and I've been thinking about it all day. It came in the nick of time, as my machine had just broken down- mid-project. Oh, the things I'll create! It's already proven to be an asset, a fine balance of sturdiness and simplicity coupled with a slightly flashy digital interface. I love it!

Thanks Jeff, it's perfect- and I'm so impressed that you picked it out all on your own. You are so good to me.

what a thoughtful gift! :) that husband of yours is a real charmer...

i need to get a sewing machine of my own one of these days, maybe you can help me pick one out!

Casey- you could buy my old one..though I wouldn't feel right charging you much more than $50 cause it needs a tune up. Are you just learning? It's a good starter, I've had it for nearly 3 years and it's done the job. But if you're looking for a step up, then i totally understand.

Thanks for the good advice Katie. I'm not sure I would have gotten the right one if not for you.

No prob, Jeff! It was so fun helping you pick out a gift I knew Jenny would love. I was so impressed by how thoughtful you were and how you wanted to make sure you got her just the right one.

Jenny-- I can't wait to see what you make with this great machine-- and I look forward to crafting with you!!!

I don't know much about sewing machines but this one is quite the looker! Is this one of those you can upload a photo or automatically sew names etc.? Nice gift Jeff.

I may be interested in your old machine as well. I have NO idea what to do, but I can learn. I see many ripped jeans, patches, and heming in my future.

I'm jealous - although I love my sewing machine right now as well. I just finished knitting a new hat (check out my blog), and am in the mood to make some new baby bibs, and have been wanting to go to the quilting loft (I think that's what it is called) because i hear they have great fabrics - what a perfect reason!

What fun! The perfect gift to inspire all sorts of new projects! I am looking forward to the slower pace of autumn & having more time to work on sewing projects. Enjoy yours!
P.S. It would be fun if you were able to visit me at my new Wallingford office--it would have to be planned though, as I'm in & out of there at all sorts of random times. :) I am working out of Keystone UCC right off of 50th, across from the Good Shepard Center (just up the hill from lower woodland).
