Who Says I Don't Know How to Camp?

The night before Jeff left for his business trip (remember the 83 degree weather, gone so quickly?) we decided to sleep outside in a tent. This was my second "camping" experience, if you can believe it. I'm not even sure you can count the 1st- I was in grade school and my friend Sabina and I slept in a tent in her back yard, but went inside when it got too cold.

I wasn't going to let this fate happen again so Jeff and I "camped" in style...Queen size air mattress, electric blanket, all 4 of our pillows, a lamp, his laptop (to watch Last Comic Standing), running water... It was GREAT! I actually had better sleep than I do in our own bed. Why didn't we think of this earlier? Now the weather will turn, by the time I get back from SoCal (I'm meeting Jeff next week) and we most likely won't have anymore outdoor adventures. The electric blanket was key, so maybe we can still pull it off.

Next summer we've vowed to sleep outside whenever our upstairs becomes unbearable. Wouldn't it be fun to have a group camp-out? Bring your own tent, extension cord, and blow up mattress. We'll provide an outdoor movie and some popcorn. August 2008!!

I'm starting to get sick..I hope I feel better before the Puyallup Fair this weekend. Has anyone gone this year? Anything I shouldn't miss besides the obvious- scones, funnel cake, gyros, elephant ears...am I the only one that goes to the fair for the food? It's been years and I'm looking forward to showing my "recently moved to Seattle" friends just what it means to "Do the Puyallup"!

I think you should plan one of these camping trips for the Bethany Wilderness Ministry :)

That is awesome! Ryan and I went "luxury camping" a couple springs ago - we took our memory foam, blankets, pillows, the works. It was great! I mean if you can be comfortable why not???

You're so funny! That actually sounds like my kinda' camping! I love sleeping outdoors, I just hate tracking dirt into the tent, not having running water, etc... But sounds like you've got that all figured out!
Enjoy the fair- the food is usually the only reason I go, too.
Also, thanks again for volunteering to help at the house. Unfortunately, our floors are taking longer than we planned- so we won't be able to do anything until next weekend probably at the earliest- thanks though!
Have fun in So Cal!

What a great idea for those sweltering summer nights! You may not believe me but I used to go SNOW camping at Mt Rainier with my family. I would sleep with my clothes for the next day all bundled up next to me in my sleeping bag so they wouldn't be icy cold to put on in the morning... I can't imagine doing that now! Your way sounds much nicer... ;-)

I spent today at the Third Street Promenade, the Santa Monica pier, and Manhattan Beach. Wish you were here with me Jenny - see you soon for our Malibu trip (a trip down Pepperdine lane). Get better!

Hi Jenny. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Have we met before? I know my husband (eric henderson) is friends with the Gough brothers but I don't think I've met all the wives. Anyways, thanks for the Costco tip - I LOVE that place. Happy Fall!

HI Jenny! Great to hear from you! I'm rather new at this blog thing...how do I just write you a note? Do I have to leave a comment to communicate?
Anyways, I'm so happy for you and Jeff...it's so funny that you contacted me because I was just talking to Carrie this weekend about how she knows your friend! small world! How is married life?
