Firenze, Italia

Florence will always have my heart, in a way. I studied there for 3 months in 1999 and I made some of my best friends there. I was so excited to return here and show Jeff around (pride comes before the fall)...who knew that 9 years would cloud ones memory? With only 5 hours in the city, I'm embarrassed to say I couldn't find my way to Viale Milton and the Villa I lived in. I should have consulted Google Maps before I went. We had a good time nonetheless...but I was bitterly disappointed in myself.

An exact replica of The David- the real one was locked up in a museum that's closed on Mondays.

Looks like we'll be back to Florence- Jeff's touching the boars nose and tradition is tradition.

Il Duomo- this was the best photo I got...it was raining and we ran out of time what with that little field trip to the University we never found.

To stay out of the rain we tried to do some shopping..I was really impressed with how decorated many of the shops were. This one particularly struck me...the changing room whisks you away to Hollywood.

Ponte Vecchio- the oldest bridge in Florence...saved during WWII because Hitler was fond of it.

Santa Croce church- it houses the remains of Michaelangelo and Galileo.

Check out those heels- impressive!

I haven't been back to Florence since we were there in 2000, but I feel like I can still picture the streets and the way back to Viale Milton...

Maybe you should have taken a taxi? Better luck next time... Did you at least get to buy anything fun from the markets?

wow, love all the pictures and stories.
Don't feel bad I lived in Chicago for a full year and don't think I would have much luck showing anyone around...can't wait to hear more stories when you get home! xo

I love the last few posts...these have been great. I skipped a few days and since then you've been all over the place! :)

The girl in the heals is a total inspiration to me...I'd like to think if I were a young Italian girl I would be like this girl. Classic.

Keep it comin'!

Love,
Cristie

We've been browsing the shops but everything is so expensive I don't know how the Italians do it! There hasn't been anything I've fallen in love with enough to fork over the dough. We still have 2.5 weeks though so you never know...

That picture is a little inappropriate. Perhaps you need to put a Maturity Rating on this blog from here on out.

I mean, picking a boar's nose Jeff? Gross.

If you think Italia is expensive just wait till you get to London! Where food is double the price, half the size. Oh well. Want to hear more about Nice and how nice it was when you get hear. See you soon!

I think this inspirational speaker said it best...

"It's like living a lie but living a dream at the same time. Burning the midnight oil in Chinatown. You, your conscience...some exotic car you rented for the night just to impress some lady you never met. It's when your getting dark. Alone. Nobodies around. You, your conscience and 80 year old limo...and an 80 year old limo driver. A bucket of chinese food and maybe some gristle. Just you and your conscience gnawing on some gristle."
