Spending the day with Mom

Today my Mom came over to spend the day with me.

She arrived just after I got back from the gym and we headed to Costco. When we returned to the house we dove right into some cooking projects. Mom went hard to work on the pumpkin cookies us bloggers have come to love and I made a lunch of chicken, coconut rice, bell peppers, and green beans.

All was completed just before Katie's arrival and the 3 of us hopped into the car and headed to the Phinney Ridge Farmers Market (last one of the season). I have been on a search for blue pumpkins and was lucky enough to walk away with one blue hubbard and one cinderella. I'll post a photo of the front porch soon...I've been feeling so inspired this year to decorate our little home according to the seasons and I wanted to start early in October so that it can all last through Thanksgiving...and I'm already looking forward to Christmas decorations- I know, I'm crazy! But I really felt robbed last year due to moving the first week of December. This year I want to enjoy it all before the baby comes and I still have the energy.

After the market we went to the studio so I could finish a nursing apron for a customer and start working on a little project (it's a secret) I need to have done by the end of next week. It was great having Mom there to do the cutting- and I think she appreciates more what "hard work" crafting can be. We finished up around 8:00 and then rewarded ourselves with dinner at Mona's.

It's been a full day, so I think we'll tuck ourselves in (she's spending the night) and enjoy some online tv before we fall asleep. I'm exhausted, but thoroughly impressed with our day!

I've been searching high and low for blue pumpkins too! No luck here yet. Ever since I saw the latest issue of Martha Stewart I've been on a mission... :)

Glad you had a lovely day with your mom!

it was martha Stewarts layout that inspired me too! Maybe I'll just have to plant some next year.

How fun that you and your mom got to spend the whole day together-- I'm glad I got to share part of it with you too! And be sure to tell your mom that the (two!) cookies I sampled were great!

Can't wait to see the projects you're working on ;)

The best part of all was getting to feel the babies kick. Yep, babies - Katie's, then Jenny's. I got to feel Baby Gough at bedtime and in the morning.
