Jane It's Your Birthday...

Jeff and I had fun thinking about you today! We hope you had a wonderful birthday and are looking forward to celebrating with you in person sometime soon, cross our fingers.

We love you!

Please enjoy this small gift.

Jane, it's your birthday, so what do ya say?
A 27 to a 28, we think you're better this way.

A lot has happened in your life of late, you deserve a rest.
And if you want you can run to the store and legally buy cigarettes.

Yes, that's true you could when you were 18, no none of that has changed.
In fact, since you turned 21 your rights have pretty much remained the same.

Except for possibly renting a car but, no, not necessarily so.
Those type of rules change state to state, so it's kinda hard to know.

We encourage you to do independent research, on your own state laws.
Learning about your legal rights is more rewarding than you thought.

Jane, it's your birthday, you're 28 today!
Jane, it's your birthday, so what are you gonna say?
Jane, it's your birthday, everybody let's celebrate!

Bavarian Winter Wonderland

Last weekend Jeff and I ran for the hills and found ourselves in a winter wonderland...Leavenworth- a Bavarian themed village! Scott and Brianne were our gracious hosts and we enjoyed an abundance of eating, shopping, napping, hanging out, and admiring the gorgeous surroundings. Being in Leavenworth made me wish cross country skiing hadn't scarred me in my youth.

When I was young my family went on a lot of adventurous trips...many of which left me- the youngest- struggling to keep up. Whether it was cross country skiing or bicycling, my little legs had to go twice the speed to cover the same distance- yet I never got any sympathy. I did notice, however, that over time our family vacations turned more tropical and I quickly discovered that laying by the pool and soaking up the sun was much more my 'speed.'

But back to Leavenworth...

Jeff and I woke on our first morning to a deflated air mattress (thanks a lot Costco). So, at 7 o'clock Jeff jumped out of bed and pulled back the curtains...the hills were aglow with the morning sun! Glasses? Camera? I almost missed it! Jeff still claims my delay made me miss an even more spectacular sunrise.

Nothing like free breakfast to start the day off right...I think Jeff may have gone a little overboard with the butter.

Yep, still in Leavenworth.

Thank you Scott and Bri for inviting us to join you!

These are the back rests of a pair of benches along the river. The snow was so thick and compacted, we were able to see the world as if on 3 foot stilts. Luckily I've been practicing this around the house the last few months so I felt right at home. ;)

Doesn't this cottage look cozy?

Blackbird Lodge, a great resort...the rooms were incredible, the staff friendly. We hope to return here every winter!

I hope to post a photo of our "old time" photo shoot once I get our scanner up and working..stay tuned.

front porch

A new creative adventure!

I will soon be leaving my career at Costco to pursue a shared passion-modern/contemporary designs, handmade into useful items for everyday life.

front porch is not only the name of the new business my friend Katie and I are starting...it's also a lifestyle. Or at least we like to think it is- our hope is to encourage others to go back to the days when neighbors and friends gathered on their front porches, embraced their communities, and enjoyed the simpler things in life...family, friends, and food!

We were inspired to begin this partnership while attending many baby showers and hosting a few ourselves over the past two years. After creating designs to give as gifts we felt compelled to collaborate and channel our creative energy into a "for profit" organization.

We have started a blog and opened a shop (which will be updated often).

Stepping out in this direction has me feeling a bit vulnerable, but I've always been up for a challenge! So, here goes!

Thank you so much to those who have supported us thus far, we look forward to creating items for you to enjoy. (Custom orders are available upon request)

10 on 10 :: February :: Sabbath

9:30 wake up call...the sound of our overflowing laundry hamper was killing me....

...the first service in the new sanctuary of our church.

The site of this boy and his uninhibited love of God is humbling. Thank you Isaac for being an inspiration to me in more ways than you know.

The view from the foyer...a look back at the building Bethany called home for many years.

My husband...of nearly 1 year!

Lunch, long overdue.

Evie, the adorable daughter of my friend Jen (a non-blogger), for now ;)

A brief afternoon tea where I met someone special for the first time and thought he was great!

A shot of my messy craft space- a new business venture underway!

Our bedside lamp which has always reminded me of an upside down artichoke.

A busy and fulfilling day.

Laptop Twins

Sometimes it feels good to be close to someone while doing your "own thing". I chuckled when I realized that Jeff and I were cuddled up in our bed (currently a mattress on the floor)...with our laptops! Is this what they mean by parallel playing? I think I know too many new moms ;)

happy birthday my sweet jeffy

it's his birthday today...
the man who...

takes care of me when I'm down
celebrates with me when I'm happy
encourages me to live actively
helps me talk things out before I make mistakes
loves to cuddle
I have known for nearly half my life
is my best friend

I love you JEFF, thank you for being such a wonderful husband..I can't wait to see what life has in store for you (us) in this next year.

(Isn't this picture beautiful? I think he should be a hand model.)
