Jane Goes Red

After learning that this lady considers Jane to be a strawberry blonde, Jane decided it was time to take the plunge and dye her hair for the first time ever! I think it totally suits her...and unfortunately it's already begun to wash out (it should only last for about 28 washes) so I'm trying to convince her to do it again at the 14 wash mark. Will you help me convince her?

***Also, Jane will be here until the beginning of June, at which time she will be taking a summer internship in Washington D.C. Until then she is offering her services in the babysitting arena. Anyone in need? She is excellent with children!***

4 Month Check Up

Yesterday was Wes' 4 month check up and I'm happy to report he's doing quite well. (Although I was hoping he'd be at least 13 lbs. AND we found out he's a bit on the shorter side- can you believe it?) I know I'm kind of being an overbearing/competitive type mom with those comments...but we all have a little bit of that in us, right?

The hardest part of the appointment was when he got his shots, he definitely got upset, but our little resilient boy bounced back and took a long nap (thank you baby tylenol)!

His Stats:

Height: 23.5 in. (10th %)
Weight: 12 lb. 10.5 oz. (10-25th %)- she said this would be 50th % if we adjusted for his prematurity!
Head: 41.5 cm

Everything is going well in the Gough household, but please be thinking of Jane as she's been battling flu-like symptoms on and off for a few days (luckily she doesn't appear to be contagious).

Hope everyone is having a good start to their week. Hasn't the weather been ridiculous? I'm hoping to take a walk this morning if the sun manages to stay out!

Lazy Sunday

Wes and Jeff took a nap while I prepared a room for Jane. We took a lesson from this lady and are having my best friend come live with us for awhile. She's looking for a job in film production so if you know anyone....

And look at what a big boy he's become...

A little Wesley time...

We still need to capture some early morning video of him - that's when he's the most smiley. But this video taken last night was post-worthy. Jeff wanted me to mention that I made him blow on Wesley. But Wes seems to like it! :-)

A Few More

I can't get enough of these dancing shots from our wedding...or of sweaty Jeff ;)

Check out Jeff in the background. Is he asking someone to dance?

Kevin Menard was one of Jeff's biggest "partners in crime"- who knew that boy could dance? ;)

I also had no idea that 9 tre was there...

Ta da!

Our great escape...I'm having fun going down memory lane, can you tell? And I just keep thinking..."wow, I was so skinny!"

Remembering Our Wedding Reception

Yesterday was our second wedding anniversary and Steve and Paula were kind enough to watch Wesley while Jeff and I went to dinner at Palisade...my parents had given us a gift certificate and Steve & Paula also offered some $ for the occasion so we were covered! Thanks guys!

While at dinner last night I asked Jeff what his favorite part of our wedding was and he said...the dancing! Ha ha! I remember him, and several others drenched in sweat. I liked the dancing too, but I got completely exhausted towards the end there and found myself wondering where the get-away car was. Oh, and he also said his other favorite part was getting to Willows Lodge and realizing it was all finished, now that is something I was definitely happy about (all the planning and anxiety a distant memory)!

Other memories from the reception:

- I had this perfect picture of our entrance into the reception after we were done signing all the papers. We had asked the DJ to announce our entrance and Jeff and I would descend down the grand staircase of the old barn. I had even put this moment on the "must photograph" list for our photographer. Unfortunately, everything the DJ said came out totally garbled and inaudible (the entire night)..so I just said, "forget it, let's go" and Jeff and I descended to a group of family and friends who were busy mingling and enjoying the appetizers- backs towards us...and from the back of the room I saw our photographer running with the camera in his hands, high above the crowd, snapping away....no winners. He apologized, and I got over it ;)

- Callie, my maid of honor, gave a toast that talked about how I am like a sister to her. In fact, she has a sister named Jenny, who is married to a man named Jeff, and their last name is spelled G-O-U-G-E...crazy! (on a side note- they have a daughter who they named Rebekah)

- I was shocked by how many people danced, and for how long it went on. Even though the DJ couldn't be understood he played great, danceable music and I think everyone had a wonderful time. And like I said earlier...Jeff danced like a maniac.

- The cakes were yummy! No one thought it was a good idea when I said I wanted chocolate cake with peppermint flavored frosting but the combo was incredible. And of course we had the Gough Boy favorite- German Chocolate!

- I put on my Uggs, in traditional Jenny fashion, and waited for the car to arrive (like I said, I was exhausted) while the DJ played "I had the time of my life" as the final song.

- We left to a sea of sparklers.

It was truly the perfect wedding (minus the fire alarm, story found here)! I'm also so excited to be celebrating another wedding this May- Jeff's brother, Bryan, is getting hitched!

And in honor of our 2nd wedding anniversary I gave Jeff a version of the traditional "cotton" gift- I ironed all of his cotton dress shirts ;) Oh, and I made cupcakes...german chocolate, and chocolate mint (which consisted of york peppermint patties hidden inside)

I can't believe it's already been two years, two houses, and 1 sweet baby boy. Love you!

A Weekend Away

Not for me and Wes...but for Daddy. And boy did we miss him!

Jeff and his band, the Republic, had a gig in Idaho this past weekend so my Mom stayed over to help me take care of little Wes. I was NOT prepared to be home alone quite yet and kind of panicked when Jeff told me about the show. Luckily the weekend went fast and we won't have to do that again for awhile-I hope! Wes had kind of a fussy weekend, but one night back with Dad and he is sleeping like a pro.

Speaking of the Republic...the boys have a new album out and are having a cd release party at Neumos next Monday (March 9th), please come and support them. It should be a good show and they will, of course, be selling their album- Kingdom of Noise. If you can't pick it up there it's now available online- check it out!

We couldn't be more proud of Daddy and the rest of the crew...it's been a long two years in the making.

Hey guys! When are you going to get some baby "merch"? Wes wants a Republic onesie ;)
