Some Like it Hot!

It's been so gorgeous out these past couple of weeks...no real time for blogging indoors.

These photos were taken over a month ago and we thought the tabasco bottle was just Wesley's size.

(just a little more spice....perfect!)

This weekend I'm looking forward to dinner in the city, a room with a view, a full nights sleep (thanks Jane for making this happen), quality time with my husband and another amazing brunch much like this one!

Someone's Getting Married Tomorrow!

Congratulations in advance Bryan and Rachel! We're looking forward to celebrating your union as husband and wife- it's going to be a gorgeous day!

With all this warm weather you might not need to snuggle under this quilt for quite awhile ;)

6 Month Check Up

6 months! Can you believe it? I hardly can, next thing you know I'll blink and he'll be walking, talking, and sleeping through the night (hopefully not in that order).

These photos were taken on his half birthday- Happy Half Birthday to You Wessy Boy!

Simon and Wesley's senior photo. Simon tenderly asked if he could hold Wes-el-y, and this is what we captured.

A tickle fight ensued, but I'm not too sure Wes was into it- Help Mom!

A rainbow and some drool (better rainbow photo seen here)

Wes is a healthy little boy and the doc gave us the ok to start solids. So far we've only tried rice cereal and I can't say that he loves it...I'll post a video of the frowns and gags from his first session soon. But after a few days it's gotten much better and tomorrow we're on to something new- so fun!

Here are his stats:

Height: 25.5 in (25th %)
Weight: 15 lb 10.5 oz (25th %)
Head: 44 cm (50th %)

Wes is such a sweet boy...I love his chubby little cheeks and the rolls that have started to develop on his legs...I love his soft voice that seems to sing along with music while we drive around town. I love that he has begun to enjoy a bit more "rough housing," playing peek-a-boo, and can roll both directions. I love that his face lights up when he sees me and that he can smile with his mouth, eyes, shoulders AND eyebrows- it just depends how excited he is! We are beyond blessed to be parents to such a special boy!

Today at MOPS our pastor's wife recalled a quote that I liked- Children are books to be read, not books to be written. I can't wait to discover what kind of boy he will become.

When I Was a Little Girl I...

needed my blankets to be "just so" while I napped, I would look over my shoulder to make sure all the corners were down

couldn't wait for knuckles to replace the dimples on my chubby little hands

had my parents get me a stand up mic with a laugh track and would perform comedy routines after dinner

LOVED singing christmas songs along with the radio in the light of the tree while my parents watched from the couch...Santa Baby by Madonna was my favorite- of course!

hid my vitamins in a jar in my room and when they started to smell I'd throw them in the woods behind my house

wanted to be an actress and even tried out for Free Willy 2 ;)

thought glamour shots were really cool and have photos to prove it!

could climb the tall rope faster than any boy in my neighborhood

would do all sorts of stupid things my brother told me to do while my parents were at work

wore a uniform from kindergarten to 8th grade at private catholic school

lived little over a mile away from my future husbands house and didn't even know it!

watched a ton of soap operas during the summer when I should have been out playing - General Hospital was my favorite

was in 4h arts and crafts and entered competitions where I had to stand in front of a panel of judges and answer questions while making blueberry muffins or wearing an outfit I made

woke up from a nap to an empty house and looked around the neighborhood for my parents...the next door neighbor boy found me and bought be a pacman ice cream until my parents came home

Thanks Rebekah for this exercise, so fun to recall my youth!

What were YOU like?

Many of you may have noticed from the previous posts or from my sister-in-laws wonderful entry, found here, that I chopped off roughly 8 inches of hair!

Way back when, I decided I'd like to grow my hair out with the hope of donating it for a wig. Little did I know (but the Lord did, I'm sure) that my dear sweet mother-in-law would be diagnosed, quite unexpectedly, with breast cancer. It was such an honor to support Paula in some small way. Anton's in Bellevue put together an amazing wig of not only MY hair, but the hair of all 3 of my sisters (Rachel- you'll be one in just 16 short days).

Paula, I love you dearly and have since first meeting you as a freshman at Liberty High School. I was always so thrilled when you were the substitute teacher and I'm even more thrilled that I became a Mrs. Gough too. How blessed I am to be a part of your family, to be a part of the Gough legacy is a source of great pride (but not in a sinful way ;)).

At the Bethany Women's Retreat in Leavenworth this past weekend the speaker gave a talk on Ruth and Naomi...she talked about how Ruth decided to stay with Naomi despite the fact that her husband had died and Naomi had asked her to leave. The speaker then asked, "how many people would follow their mother-in-law?" (thinking not many people would in this day and age) and I thought, without a moments hesitation, "I would!" You are a rare gem and worthy of all the riches God has bestowed upon you. I will follow you Paula, through high school, through this journey fighting cancer, through a life filled with joys and sorrows. God bless you!

What's it Tahuya?

My parents co-own a cabin on Hood Canal in a tiny, blink and you'll miss it, town called Tahuya...the locals just LOVE selling t-shirts that have their famous tag line, "what's it Tahuya?" Aren't they clever? ;)

Our little family (and Jane) headed down there a couple of weekends ago for the first time since Wes was born and although I didn't spend as much time soaking up the sun as I would have liked...Jane agreed to entertain Wes inside (didn't want him to get too much exposure) while I took a fifteen minute break on the lawn with my hubby...it ended up being an hour (I fell asleep) and it was amazing- thanks Jane!

It felt great to get away...away from to do lists, away from the same old walls we see every day. I think Wes enjoyed it too- first time wearing a sun hat, dipping his toes in salt water, roasting marshmallows on an open fire.

I can't wait to spend more time there this summer with our little boy who seems to be growing by the second and taking everything in. We're also looking forward to meeting Ruby Lucille who was born last week and whose Grandma has a beach house just down the road. It should be so fun! Congratulations Brooke & Daryn...she is adorable!
